NOTES
India follows the principle of separation of powers, where the government is divided into three main organs:
- Legislature
- Executive
- Judiciary
All three organs have separate powers and responsibilities, but they work together to ensure the country runs smoothly and lawfully.
Legislature
- Function: Makes laws.
- Main Body: Parliament (Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha).
- Location: Sansad Bhavan, New Delhi.
- State Level: State Legislative Assemblies.
Executive
- Function: Implements laws and runs the government.
- Main Authorities: President, Prime Minister, and Council of Ministers.
- Location: Rashtrapati Bhavan and Central Secretariat, New Delhi.
- State Level: Governor, Chief Minister, and state officials.
Judiciary
- Function: Interprets laws and delivers justice.
- Head Body: Supreme Court of India.
- Location: Tilak Marg, New Delhi.
- State Level: High Courts and subordinate courts.
